An idealistic staffer for a newbie presidential candidate gets a crash course on dirty politics during his stint on the campaign trail.
Look at that cast!!! Should i go on?
A politician hides shit and his right hand finds out… and grows a fuckin’ conscience. Death before betrayal? or survival of the fittest?
Written, directed and starring George Clooney! A political drama with nerve. The face of politics will never be the same - it’s been that way for ages. People are starting to open their eyes.
Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti and Ryan Gosling. DAMN.
Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood. DAMN!
Trivia: The Ides of March was the day (March 15) that Julius Caesar was assassinated. In Shakespeare’s “Julius Caesar” before being stabbed to death, Julius Caesar is told by a Soothsayer: “Beware the ides of March.”
A nice film with big stars and a story not too far from reality. Somethin’ for mature audiences and followers of political conspiracies.
We all have a conscience to deal with.

Frozen (2010)
Prominent Actors - Emma Bell, Shawn Ashmore, Kevin Zegers
Genre of Film - Thriller (Survival thriller, horror)
Setting - The movie takes place at a ski resort in New England. The main focus is on a single ski lift, where the main characters are trapped
An Overview of the Plot - Joe (Shawn Ashmore) and Dan (Kevin Zegers) have a tradition of going to a ski resort to get away from everyday problems. On another one of those trips, Dan’s girlfriend Parker (Emma Bell) joins them. They spend the day on Mount Holliston, having bribed a ski lift attendant to let them on the ski lift. On their last run, the ski lift stops and they soon realize that they’ve been left up there and the resort has been shut down until the next weekend. From that point onwards, the viewers experience what survival really means and how difficult choices one must make in order to survive.

Quotes -
Joe Lynch: [Parker lights a cigarette and begins smoking]
Joe Lynch: [Sniffing, exaggerated] Hmmm, smell that mountain air. You know what it smells like?… Cancer.
—-
Joe Lynch: [trying to pass time] What did the 14-year-old girl from New Hampshire say to her dad when she lost her virginity?
Dan Walker: Get off me, you’re crushing my Marlboros.
Joe Lynch: Yup.
_____
Direction - The director, Adam Green, has worked on similar movies such as Hatchet and Hatchet II. He is great at portraying fear and making the audience a part of what is happening. The directing was great in my opinion and all the angles worked really good.
Editing - The editing was well done and there weren’t many mistakes. Some continuity problems, which happen in basically every movie. Everything seemed very realistic which really helped with the overall spookyness.
Costume design - I don’t have much to say about this, since the majority of the movie was set on a ski lift and the characters had pretty basic skiing clothes on.
Set design - The place was definitely well chosen and although it usually bothers me when the whole movie is set on one limited location, I didn’t really notice it in this particular movie. Only one mistake was made - There are no wolves in New England
Background Music - The background music really fit the scenes and helped build up tension, where it needed to be built. Creepy-ish music played while important decisions were made and it worked perfectly with the overall look.
Flaws - I have watched this movie for two times and I noticed the second time watching it that it was kind of slow. The development to the actual point where they get stuck on the ski lift was a bit boring at times and there were some strange loose ends. In addition, it was a bit illogical at times. Peoples’ minds work in different ways, but my mind came up with a dozen different escape routes that would’ve been far better. It seemed a bit far-fetched at times.
Strenghts - I don’t usually get freaked out by movies like this. Frozen is more of a psychological horror movie than anything else. It’s not very bloody and it doesn’t have those ‘jump out of your chair’ scary parts. But it puts you into the minds of those three people stuck up there. All the directors work and the editing and the effects and the music worked perfectly together to make me sick in my stomach. And yes, that is a plus. A physical reaction to a movie means that it is strong and influential. And it’s one of those movies you’ll think about a week after seeing it.
Grade - 9/10
